Mango, one of the world’s leading fashion groups, has announced that it will open a new store at Festival Place Basingstoke – one of UK’s largest shopping centres – strengthening the brand’s presence across the UK.
Set to open late this year, the new location will stock the Woman and Man collections. Combining versatile designs with quality and expert fitting, Mango Woman and Man offers empowering fashion which enables customers to express their unique character and individuality.
The new 7104 sq ft store will also reflect Mango’s New Med concept – an interior design inspired by the brand’s Mediterranean heritage and culture, with natural textures, warm tones and sustainable materials that create a bright and welcoming shopping space.
The European Fashion giant joins over 180 retailers spanning across the impressive 1.2 million sq ft centre, including major anchors and household names. The arrival of Mango’s new store highlights the appeal of the centre which continues to draw in big names, and in turn, its 19 million+ loyal customer base.
Mango is the first major signing at Festival Place following the MDSR Investment’s acquisition of the centre in April for £99.1m.
Discussions are underway to introduce other fashion names to the centre as part of a series of asset management initiatives undertaken by property and asset manager Estama alongside joint leasing agents LM and GCW to bolster the centre’s performance, boost leasing activity and better align the tenant mix to the demographic.
Ross Campbell, Director & Head of Asset Management commented: “The key focus of our asset management strategy since MDSR’s purchase of Festival Place has been to improve the fashion offering at the centre. Mango’s arrival marks a strong start to this programme. Being part of the brand’s growth ambitions is exciting, as it strengthens its presence in the UK this year with 20 new store openings, reflecting strong shopper demand for its offer.”
Neil Hockin, Joint Managing Director and Head of Leasing at LM, added: “It’s a significant milestone that Mango has chosen Festival Place for its flagship store – its offer aligns seamlessly with the customer demographic, and it fills a clear gap in the local market with the nearest store over 27km away. Across the high street fashion sector at LM, we’re witnessing increasing demand for prominent international brands, and Basingstoke reflects this trend strongly. This letting marks a key phase in our strategic asset management partnership with GCW and Estama to reinforce Festival Place’s standing as one of the UK’s premier retail and leisure destinations.”
